Changes for 2020 due to Coronavirus – COVID 19
The following changes apply to 2020 bookings and supersede our standard terms and conditions. Based on government guidance and legislation we may need to change these at short notice.
Book with confidence
If we have to close due to coronavirus, your local area is subject to lockdown, if you cannot travel due to self-isolation or because you have developed symptoms:
- We will change your booking to another date in 2020 or 2021 (subject to availability) or we will refund you in full
For 2020 our payment policy has changed slightly to allow for contactless check-in
For touring caravans and motorhomes:
- 30% deposit to a minimum of £30 per pitch with the balance payable 7 days before arrival
For our Riverside Pods and for all stays on bank holiday weekends:
- Full payment at the time of booking
Symptoms before you travel
We want to keep everyone safe, so please do not travel if you are feeling unwell or are displaying any symptoms of Coronavirus. Please get in touch about your booking and we’ll do our best to help.
Symptoms whilst on site
Get in touch and let us know as soon as you can. We will need to record that you have potential symptoms, so please ensure you call, text or email us so we can support you and adhere to government guidelines.
If you are well enough to travel, you will be asked to go home to self-isolate, avoiding public transport
Should you feel too unwell or be unable to leave, we will ask you to isolate in your accommodation and we will support you as appropriate.
Arrival and check-in
We will ensure that check-in is as contactless as possible. You will receive directions to your pitch via email in advance plus an information pack or, if you require assistance, we will meet you from a safe distance at the campsite entrance at a pre-arranged time.
Check in times unless arranged in advance will be as follows:
- Touring caravans and motorhomes: from 2pm until 7pm
- Check-out by midday
- Pods: from 3pm until 7pm
- Check-out by 11am
Balance payments will be made in advance either online or over the phone. If you decide to extend your stay or need to make a payment at the campsite we will have contactless options for payment.
Social distancing on site
We have reduced campsite capacity significantly and our pitches will be well spaced out. We do ask that you stick to the social distancing rules whilst on-site, especially around any shared facilities.
- Stick to 2m+ distancing from other people outside of your party
- Don’t gather in groups outside of your one or two households
- One person at a time using any of the facilities
We will be unable to open our on-site shop unfortunately. We would recommend you bring soap, hand gel, gloves, toilet roll, disinfectant, hand sanitiser and insect repellent with you from home.
Whilst we would always encourage you to support local businesses where possible, please bear in mind that Bala is a small rural community with a relatively small population. With this in mind, we would recommend you stock up on sundry items before you get here, as you may struggle to find some things locally. Arranging supermarket deliveries is currently difficult and it’s important the local supermarkets and pharmacies maintain stock for isolated or vulnerable people in our community.
2 households, 2 pitches
We can only accept bookings up to a maximum of six people from two households and two pitches.
We won’t be allowing day guests on-site.
For now, all of our shared facilities, will remain closed. This includes our toilets, sinks, shower blocks, dishwashing sinks, laundry and shop.
We will continue to provide:
- chemical and grey water waste disposal points
- rubbish and recycling bins
- drinking water
- free WiFi
- 16A electric hook up points
Touring caravans and motorhomes – self contained
Self-contained accommodation, defined by the Welsh government as ‘modern touring caravans and motorhomes with their own kitchens and bathrooms that no other guests use.’
We will only be welcoming pitch bookings for touring caravans and motorhomes fitted with on-board:
- tank fed washing up/running water
- grey water and waste collection
Tents, campervans and converted vans
For 2020 we are unable to accept bookings for tents, campervans, converted vans or our glamping tents at this time, sorry.
We will be operating one of our two pods at a time, in rotation, with a 4 night minimum stay. This will allow us to leave at least 72 hours between stays.
If you are staying in a pod you will have access to your own; lockable toilets, showers and dishwashing facilities. You will be given a key and they won’t be used by any other guests during your stay. We unfortunately won’t be able to provide access to a fridge or freezer.
The pods and their facilities will receive a deep clean between stays.
Hand washing and hand sanitising
We will be providing hand sanitiser at our shared facilities. However, we do ask that you bring your own and to follow the recommended hand washing guidelines whilst on-site.
Although mask wearing won’t be compulsory, it would be encouraged around our shared facilities and when visiting local shops and businesses.

Some Important Points to Note
We want everyone to have a nice, safe and relaxing time at Tyn Cornel Camping so we kindly ask that you note the following:
- Please don’t disturb your fellow campers.
- Tyn Cornel Camping is within Snowdonia National Park which is part of the charm. There are natural hazards such as waterways, tree roots, rocks and limited lighting after dark. In particular, the River Tryweryn is a beautiful and exciting river but does flow fast so please take care.
- Campfires are only allowed in the traditional grass camping field in fire pits provided by us, using wood purchased on site. We do not allow fires in the electric hook-up field or the pod pitches for safety reasons.
Fire pits are free to hire but we do ask for a deposit, refundable when the fire pit is returned to us at the end of your stay.
- As we are a quiet, family-friendly site we ask for no noise after 11pm and that at all times music is kept at a level that cannot be heard from other pitches.
- Please let us know in advance if you will be arriving outside of reception hours so we can make arrangements for your arrival. We usually lock our gates overnight. Late arrivals are on a request basis only.
- We generally only accept families and couples. Larger or single sex groups are welcome only at our discretion and must be arranged directly with the campsite via email. This also applies to any groups of ten people and/or three or more camping units/pitches.
- To reserve a pitch we ask for 30% or £30 deposit (£50 for Pods and £70 for Lotus Belle tents), whichever is the greater amount. On bank holiday weekends we ask for full payment.
- Please help us keep the grass healthy by raising barbecues, stoves and any heat source, such as hot pans, off the ground.
- To keep the pitches in good condition please keep driving on the grass to a minimum. In rare periods of heavy rain we may ask that cars are parked away from the pitch in the car park nearby.

Pitches and units
Unit: a standard unit is a tent, trailer tent, single axle caravan, campervan or motorhome and one car up to a maximum of 8m x 5m, inclusive of guy ropes. As a guide any unit designed to sleep more than six will not fit on a standard pitch. Guests with a tent, caravan, motorhome etc. designed to sleep more than six need to contact us and we’ll do our best to accommodate you on a suitable pitch. As we are a small campsite we are unable to accept twin axle caravans, truck or lorry conversions.
Traditional Grass Camping Pitch: an undefined grass pitch on which to station your unit, suitable for tents, trailer tents and small campervans (less than 5.5m in length). Electric hook-up is not available on traditional grass camping pitches.
Electric Hook-up Pitch: an allocated grass or hardstanding pitch including electric hook-up.
A single attached awning or toilet tent or small trailer is also included in the pitch price. One car may be parked adjacent to the pitch, ground conditions allowing. Additional vehicles must be parked in the adjacent car park at a cost of £5.50 per day.
Every unit should be not less than 6m from any other unit, unless you are camped with other friends/family, in which case the distance is not less than 3m. Vehicles, awnings or trailers are permitted within the 6m space between units but, in order to restrict the spread of fire, there should always be 3m clear space within the 6m separation.
Lotus Belle tents
There is no vehicular access to the Lotus Belle tents, cars should be parked in the car park which is a short walk away. We provide hand carts and assistance for luggage if required.
Fires are only permitted in the fire pits and wood burning stoves provided, using firewood purchased or provided by the campsite.
For safety reasons we respectfully ask for no smoking, cooking or burning of candles in the tents. In addition, please do not place anything on or above the woodburning stoves, eg hanging clothes. Outdoor footwear and pets are not permitted.
We clean the tents after every stay so that when you arrive all you have to do is settle in and make yourself at home. To assist with this, we kindly request that accommodation is left as clean and tidy as possible.
We clean the pods after every stay so that when you arrive all you have to do is settle in and make yourself at home. To assist with this, we kindly request that accommodation is left as clean and tidy as possible.
For safety reasons we respectfully ask for no smoking, cooking or burning of candles in the pods. Please do not place anything on or above the electric heaters. Outdoor footwear and pets are not permitted.
The pods come with beds, seating, electricity, lighting and heating but you will need to bring everything else you may need for your camping trip. For example, sheets, bedding and cooking equipment.

You must give notice of cancellation in writing. The date of cancellation will be the date we receive your written instruction.
If you cancel your holiday at any point after booking you will lose your deposit already paid. This will be either:

In these circumstances, we will offer you a full refund of any fees paid or the option of an alternative pitch/site of a comparable standard (with you paying any additional cost or receiving a refund in respect of a price difference). No other compensation is available.
Please notify Tyn Cornel Camping as soon as possible if you wish to amend your booking. Please note any amendment is subject to availability. We want all our customers to have an enjoyable holiday but you must remember that you are responsible for your actions and the effect they may have on others. In placing a booking request, you agree that you and your party will at all times comply with the requests of the Tyn Cornel Camping team. As the person booking the holiday, you are responsible for the behaviour of all members of the party whilst on the site. You must take reasonable care of your accommodation and take precautions for your own safety. If we (or another person in authority) believe your actions could upset others, put them in danger, or damage property, we may end your holiday. If this happens we will not pay compensation or meet any expense you incur as a result. It may also mean that we will not accept a future booking from you and you may also be responsible for any loss or damage we incur.
As we are a quiet, family-friendly site we ask for no noise after 11pm and that at all times music is kept at a level that cannot be heard from other pitches. Fuel powered generators are not permitted on site.
We reserve the right to ask any customer for a security bond regardless of party size. This will be refunded in full at the end of your stay unless, in our opinion, you have displayed unreasonable behaviour (this includes, but is not limited to, excessive noise, wilful damage to the site or other people’s property and abuse of our staff).
Dogs are welcome on our campsite, please see the website for the latest prices. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and any fouling must be collected and disposed of. A maximum of three dogs per pitch are permitted and we don’t accept dogs listed within the dangerous dogs act. If there is an incident on site involving your dog, you may be asked to leave the site immediately.
Tyn Cornel Camping is within Snowdonia National Park which is part of the charm. There are natural hazards such as waterways, tree roots, rocks and limited lighting after dark. By Booking and coming to stay you agree to be responsible for your children, pets and your own welfare and to take all reasonable precautions against personal injury, injury to others and damage to the environment. In particular, the River Tryweryn is a beautiful and exciting river but does flow fast so please take care. Please supervise children and dogs at all times.
Barbecues and campfires
Charcoal barbecues are allowed on all pitches. However, campfires are allowed only in the grass camping field or the Lotus Belle Tent area, using the fire pits and firewood provided by Tyn Cornel Camping. No wood can be taken from the local woodland or campsite or brought in from elsewhere.
Campfires are not allowed in the electric hook-up field or the Pod pitches for safety reasons.
Fires and barbecues must be at least 3 metres away from tents, caravans, vehicles, hedges, trees or property and must cause no damage to vegetation. They must be used in a responsible manner with reasonable safety measures taken. Do not leave your fire unattended at any time. Make sure fires and barbecues are completely extinguished and cold before leaving them, disposing of them or going to bed. Dispose of cold ash or cold used barbecues in the designated bins.
Never take a barbecue or fire into a tent, awning, caravan or motorhome. Never use a fuel-burning appliance to heat your tent or awning. Don’t cook, or use any other gas, charcoal, liquid or solid fuel appliances inside your tent or awning.
We want you to have a great time. Should you have cause for complaint, please let us know immediately and we will try to makes things right.
